South East Cowal
South East Cowal is defined by the waters of the Firth of Clyde, Holy Loch and Loch Striven. Dunoon, the only major town in Cowal is in South East Cowal where access is by ferry from Gourock.

World Famous Historic Gardens
The area is renowned for it plant collections seen in the acres of woodland gardens of Benmore Botanic Gardens and Kilmun Arboretum.
Idyllic inland countryside
Inland, the countryside is a microcosm of everything that is attractive about the Scottish Highlands; deep Glens with waterfalls and riversand acres of forest and hill to explore. A trip to Glen Massan is recommended, to enjoy this aspect of the amazing variety and diversity of Scottish landscape all in one place.
Coastal Sea Lochs, rich in Wildlife
Holy Loch is one of the smallest of the sea lochs of Cowal, but one of the most beautiful , with its sheltered waters framed by the hills of the Argyll Forest Park. Its shores are one of the best places for wildlife, with lots of shorebirds fringing the coastal areas as well as regular sightings of otters and porpoise
Many delightful small communities
The coast is dotted by delightful villages and communities; Blairmore and Strone look out to the Clyde from the shores of Loch Long; , Kilmun and Sandbank look over Holy Loch and Kirn and Innellan face out over the Firth. Toward point is the tip of South East Cowal with the road taking you to the shores of the remote sea loch, Loch Striven and the tiny communities of Port Lamont and Inverchaolain.
