Cowal has one main town, Dunoon and throughout the area a myriad of small communities pepper the landscape.  You will find traditional Scottish music is alive and well in all the communities of Cowal, with events taking place in local halls of a very high standard.

The local communities have a lively social culture, to which visitors are welcome to join in. Ceilidhs take place in local community halls and theatres and can involve poetry and singing as well as the traditional music. The Saturday afternoon Ceilidh is a standard part of the programme on the Saturday afternoon of the Cowal Highland Games in August, definitely a date to put in your calendar
