The natural escape for a revitalising break.

Art Galleries and studios

The wonderful contrasts in the natural environment of Cowal are very attractive to artists and there are galleries, exhibitions and craft fairs throughout the area. One of the most remote galleries, Fyne Studios, is in a delightful and picturesqe part of Cowal.  Artists Don McNeil and Jean Bell, are tucked away in the charming village of Newton on the shores of Loch Fyne.

Cowal Open Studios

Being able to visit an artist in their own studio is often possible, and a perfect way of meeting the people who produce the work is the annual Cowal Open Studios in September; over 30 studios are open to the public in a trail that takes you to every corner of the Peninsula.

Art Galleries throughout Cowal

Dunoon has several galleries, including the Juno Design Gallery which has regular exhibitions and Gambit Gallery run by two young artists, producing contemporary crafts. Set off west from Dunoon and you can take in several galleries within a few miles. The Marina Gallery is within Holy Loch Marina and the Courtyard Gallery set within the beautiful setting of Benmore Botanic Garden. A little further round the coast you will find Blairmore Gallery, in a delightful setting at the end of Blairmore Pier representing many local artists. Visit the events page to find out about exhibitions and craft fairs.
